About Legligin Wine Bar

Fans of Legligin have been seduced for life, as the owner, Chris, has done everything in his power to make his the experience of his little wine bar in St Lucy Street – a corner away from The Manoel Theatre – a cosy, intimate experience that never skimps on quality.

This tiny haven of food and wine is a labour of love for its owner, and it shows. While accommodating no more than a few tables – making booking essential – the lively French music and mismatched crockery instantly create an unforgettable atmosphere, while the ever-shifting menu of bite-sized treats (and more substantial dishes too, like the stewed octopus and lamb casserole) is enough to keep you coming back for more. And that’s not even mentioning the extensive wine-list: far from being an armchair sommelier, Chris is a true fan of the stuff, regaling visitors with a selection that you know has been sampled – and loved – long before it lands in your glass.

This year, Chris also celebrated a new development – the opening of a Pasta House just a door down from Legligin. Described as a “continuation” of Legligin, the Pasta House serves as its daytime operation, with heartier lunchtime meals that boast a distinctly local touch. Chris insists that local food is “more than just rabbit,” and the menu is peppered with dishes that “Maltese mums” have been making for generations.
